How we found each other

Our story

From a Teams meeting to a lifetime of adventures.

Shaun is thoughtful, kind and quietly funny, with a natural ability to make the people around him feel at ease. Rebekah is warm, curious and full of energy, always ready for an adventure and never short of a story.

Their paths first crossed through work, beginning with a business connection and a Teams meeting—hardly the most romantic of beginnings! Interestingly, they had actually appeared on a panel together a whole year before they were officially introduced, which made them wonder how little attention they had been paying at the time.

Eighteen months later, they finally met face-to-face at a corporate event. What started as a professional introduction quickly became something neither of them had expected. It felt as though each had found the right person, in the right place, at exactly the right time—as though they had always been destined to find each other in this lifetime.

“The right person, in the right place, at exactly the right time.”

What Shaun loves most about Rebekah is her warmth, her sense of adventure and the way she brings joy to even the simplest moments. What Rebekah loves most about Shaun is his kindness, his calm nature and the way he makes her feel completely supported and understood. She also noted that he is “very easy on the eye”.

Some people say that, over time, couples start to morph into each other, and perhaps that is true for Shaun and Rebekah. They have certainly picked up each other’s habits, phrases and ways of seeing the world. Somewhere along the way, there have even been a few questionable additions to their vocabulary—they wonder how many of their guests know what a cagoule is!

One of their favourite promises came early in their relationship. Shaun once told Rebekah that, one day, he would buy her a rocking chair and that they would sit there together, looking back fondly on their life and remembering everything they had done and everywhere they had been. Rebekah has never forgotten that promise and fully intends to hold him to it.

So perhaps this is more than just a wedding. It is the beginning of the next chapter on their journey towards that rocking chair: a life filled with adventures, stories, laughter, a few Brummie phrases and, hopefully, plenty of memories worth looking back on.

For now, they are making one of those memories in beautiful Montenegro, surrounded by the people they love most.

A little more about us

The important questions.

Who made the first move?01

Shaun, of course—he offered to get Rebekah a “mint tea”.

Who takes out the trash?02

Whoever’s closest to the trash :)

What’s your most memorable date?03

Without a doubt, it was the day Shaun proposed. It was Rebekah’s birthday, and the occasion brought plenty of emotions, surprises and, eventually, one very important question. What they will remember most, however, is how the night ended—the two of them gazing up at the stars under a full moon, with Shaun down on one knee and Rebekah telling him to get back up!

What’s your favourite activity together?04

Honestly, as long as they are together, they are usually happy! They do love a good sporting event, though—partly for the atmosphere, but mostly because it brings out their competitive sides.

Where are you headed for your honeymoon?05

They are still deciding exactly where their honeymoon will take them, but they know it will involve two of their favourite things: exploring a vibrant city and relaxing somewhere beautiful by the sea. They are considering starting in Japan or Hong Kong before heading to Bora Bora, or perhaps combining a city adventure with an unforgettable safari. Wherever they choose to go, one thing is certain—it will be hot! Recommendations from their guests are very welcome.

What’s the best meal you’ve shared?06

This is a difficult one, but Swiss Butter in Paris has to be up there. Shaun and Rebekah stumbled across it completely by chance and were not expecting much, only to discover some seriously delicious food that was wonderfully simple, unpretentious and, best of all, inexpensive! The only downside? They enjoyed it a little too much and then had to make a run for their flight.

What’s your most memorable trip?07

They have been lucky enough to travel all over the world together, so this was a difficult choice—but they both settled on Mauritius. It offered the perfect combination of everything they love: time to relax, plenty to explore and just enough adventure to keep them busy. From flying through the jungle on a zip wire to embarking on a Segway safari and getting up close to the animals, there was something about the entire trip that made it unforgettable.

Planning your visit

Your Montenegro
wedding FAQs.

We can’t wait to celebrate with you! Here are a few helpful answers for planning your trip. We’ll update the details as they’re confirmed, so please check back before travelling.

How do we get to Montenegro?

Tivat Airport is the closest, around 20 minutes from Luštica Bay. Dubrovnik Airport in Croatia is an alternative, approximately two hours away. Journey times depend on traffic and border queues. A hire car is optional for exploring, but Mamula Island is accessed by boat. Tivat can get busy, so allow plenty of time for your return flight.

UK passport holders travelling on a full British citizen passport currently do not need a visa for tourist visits of up to 90 days in any 180-day period. Check the latest entry and passport requirements before you travel, and Croatia’s requirements if flying via Dubrovnik.

Should we bring cash?

Montenegro uses euros. We recommend bringing some euro cash if you’d like to explore beyond the wedding—it can be handy for small shops, markets and local transport.

Where should we stay?

Choose wherever suits your plans and budget—you don’t have to stay at a recommended hotel. Our Mamula Island guest rooms include a minimum three-night stay, subject to availability. We recommend staying in Luštica Bay with the wedding party, but where you stay is completely up to you. Explore our nearby accommodation suggestions for inspiration.

How do we travel between Luštica Bay and Mamula Island?

Boat transfers will be arranged from Luštica Bay to Mamula Island, with a crossing of approximately 10 minutes. Pick-up points, departure times and crossing details will be shared nearer the wedding. The return journey will be by boat (approximately three minutes), followed by a coach back to Luštica Bay (approximately 20 minutes).

What should we wear?

Our wedding is black tie—we can’t wait to see everyone dressed up! September is generally warm, so breathable fabrics are a good choice. Bring a light wrap or jacket for the evening and choose secure footwear for the island’s historic steps. Check the forecast before packing.

Can I bring a plus-one or children?

Plus-ones are welcome. Please include your guest’s details in the guest information form so we can plan for them. We love little ones, but our wedding celebrations are an adults-only occasion. Thank you for understanding.

How do we share dietary requirements or allergies?

Please add any allergies or dietary requirements to the guest information form, including those of your plus-one.

What if I have accessibility or mobility needs?

Mamula Island is a historic setting with steps and stairs in some areas. Please tell us about any accessibility needs in the guest information form and contact Tamara in advance so we can discuss the venue, boat transfers and any support you may need.

Do you have a gift list?

Having you celebrate with us in Montenegro is the greatest gift. We know travelling abroad is a commitment, and we’re so grateful you’re making the journey. Please don’t feel you need to bring a present—your presence is more than enough.

Who should we contact for help?

Tamara, our wedding planner, can help with travel, accommodation, transfers and wedding logistics. Message Tamara on WhatsApp at +382 68 024 339, or use the wedding planner button on this page.
